LEGACY BUILDERS:

Legacy Builders are individuals who have made current or deferred charitable gifts to the Legacy Funds of First United Methodist Church.

Be part of building a sure foundation. As a member of First United Methodist Church you are part of the fabric of our history and calling. When you choose to make a current or deferred gift to the Legacy Funds, you become an integral and permanent part of the future of First Church.

Why should I become a Legacy Builder? It’s important to leave a legacy, a reminder for those who follow you about what is important to you. The Cornerstone Initiative will help you accomplish that goal.

There are several ways to become a Legacy Builder.

• Make a current gift to the Legacy Funds.

•Prayerfully consider naming First Church as the beneficiary of a gift from your estate, IRA or other retirement plan.

•Amend your current estate plan or implement a new plan that includes a gift to First Church.

No minimum amount is required and no dollar amounts will be disclosed. You may choose to make your gift anonymously.

The Cornerstone Initiative can help you evaluate how to incorporate a gift to First Church in your estate plan. Contact Bob Crew at the church office for an appointment.

LEGACY FUNDS:

The Legacy Funds are professionally managed, permanent funds that fulfill First United Methodist Church’s vision and mission today and for years to come.

MINISTRY FUND: The Ministry Fund is maintained for the purpose of funding present and future ministries of First United Methodist Church. It is the most flexible way that you can provide for the ministries of the Church. Examples of gifts held in the Ministry Fund are the Undesignated Fund which fund Church Operations or specifically named ministry programs such a youth or music and The General Fund Endowment designed to pay a donor’s annual pledge in perpetuity. Use of funds is approved by the Board of Trustees and in keeping with policies of the Church Council.

DIRECTED FUND: The Directed Fund is maintained for the purpose of funding particular ministries of First United Methodist Church. Examples include the Church’s scholarship fund, the television ministry, missions, the Religious Nurture Center and the pipe organ. Use of funds is determined by the donor(s) at the time of the gift and in keeping with the policies of the Church Council.

CAPITAL FUND: The Capital Fund is maintained for the purpose of funding the present and future building needs of First United Methodist Church. Funds are used as determined by the Board of Trustees in keeping with the policies of the Church Council. Theses funds may be spent only on buildings and their furnishings, construction, repair and maintenance.

A gift to any of the funds may be made as an unrestricted gift, allowing the use of principal and interest, or as a restricted gift which allows the use of interest only. Restricted gifts require a minimum donation of $5,000.
